Lincoln Towing’s license on the line in ICC hearing

For nearly six decades, Lincoln Towing Service has earned an infamous reputation for hauling away countless Chicago vehicles.

The Andersonville-based firm, dubbed the “Lincoln Park Pirates” in song and lore, may soon be facing the hook itself: an Illinois Commerce Commission hearing to determine whether to pull its relocation towing license.

The two-day hearing, scheduled to begin May 31, is the culmination of an ICC investigation into Lincoln that began in February 2016 amid mounting public pressure and numerous citations for illegally towing cars. Allegations ranged from improper signage to relocating authorized vehicles.

This is the first time state regulators have challenged Lincoln’s fitness to hold a towing license, ICC spokeswoman Marianne Manko said.
